0.25ct Old Mine Diamond
This is a genuine Old Mine Diamond and would have been cut over 100 years ago. The facets are beautifully polished, which means it had time and a skillful hand. It does have a few black carbon inclusions but this is very common in Old Mine diamonds. Its common because in these times humans didnt have the knowledge to cut through diamonds. Generally these days clever computer systems look into rough diamonds and decide how to best cut around these inclusions because they are seen as bad. Its a bit sad, we all have flaws and in Old Mine diamonds they are part of the charm. This diamond also has quite a few chips around its edge, if you dont like these they could be easily covered with a bezel setting, or set it in claws and leave them on show as proof of the life its already lead.
This diamond has tested as a genuine diamond and we believe it to be a G-I colour, I2 clarity.

The last photo above may look less sparkly, thats because its a view looking through the rear of the stone. We offer this photo as an opportunity to look right into the gemstone, this helps determine colour saturation, colour changes within the crystal, growth lines and inclusions. Transparency is important for crystals and gemstone descriptions.
