2ct Golden Yellow/Blue Parti Australian sapphire - Geo cut
A lovely long Geo cut sapphire showing bright golden yellow and a delicate blue. Completely free of inclusions when viewing without magnification and looking at the magnified photos it may receive an Internally Flawless classification. Long crystals like this show the amazing colouration of parti sapphires. Parti from the word partition named for the different coloured areas within the sapphire. This interesting feature is caused by different elements growing into the crystal as it grows, changing the absorption of different colours from white light. Its thought many sapphire crystals take hundreds of thousands if not millions of years to grow. In this case the dissolved fluid containing aluminium oxide that the crystal grew in would have also been small amounts of iron which created the yellow and titanium which when mixed with the iron create blue sapphire. The blue section would have grown first, using up all the available titanium and then the crystal would have kept growing with the remaining iron creating the golden yellow.
There are so many options for a gemstone with such lovely bright colours. It would be a shame to cover the sides of the sapphire with a bezel setting, our recommendation would be a ring built of fine wire. Our qualified designer can help with this or any other ideas you may have.
Sapphires are the second hardest natural gemstone after diamond. Hardness is very important if the piece is to be worn daily, as in the case with an engagement ring. Sapphires are one of the few gemstones suitable for this purpose and Australian sapphires are some of the worlds best. If this sapphire is not exactly what you are after or if you have other requests please contact us as we have a vast collection and a wonderful group of miners who toil day in day our looking for more of these enchanting and enduring crystals.

If you choose to take the piece loose or view it in your own home before returning for manufacturing it will come beautifully packaged in a sustainably grown timber gem box. Some of our customers have actually proposed this way, with the loose gem in our nice box. Then both partners can be involved in the design and manufacturing of the piece. A thoughtful way to start the next chapter of your lives together.
